What has the SDACT Accomplished?

Negotiations: SDACT trains teams of negotiators in each bargaining unit, enabling them to work out a collective bargaining agreement with their employer.

Contracts: A written master contract is given to each employee. Conditions for all teachers are uniform. (See Sample)

Salary: The salaries of teachers at SDACT affiliates have increased dramatically since organizing.

Working Conditions: Teachers are protected against excessive work load, and adequate duty free lunch and preparation time is provided.

Grievance Procedure: A multi-step procedure with definite time limits is established to resolve teacher grievances. The last step requires binding arbitration.

Job Security: Tenure is granted to teachers who qualify.
